BIG HIGHLIGHT: JULIANNA

In partnership with the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto (CAST), we are currently running a program called Big Steps to Success. This mentorship program is designed to improve the educational outcomes for 7-14 year old children and youth involved with child welfare. One of the amazing Bigs involved in this pioneering program is Julianna. We recently spoke with Julianna about her relationship with her Little, Sarah*, and how their connection has been impacting Julianna’s life.

THE GIFT OF A CARING, CONSISTENT ADULT MENTOR

My name is Sarah and my son Max is a Little in Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto’s Mentorship Program. As a single mom, I needed a program where Max would be connected to someone for extra support and guidance. As soon as Max was matched with his Big Brother, Jonathan, we all felt an organic connection. It felt at home right off the bat.

AIM RECYCLING JOINS BBBST IN EMPOWERING LIVES THROUGH MENTORSHIP

At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto (BBBST), we have an unwavering commitment to build thriving communities. SUCCEEDING IN SCHOOL

At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto, Success in School is a key Thriving Indicator that measures the impact a mentoring relationship has on a Little. Last year, 96% of BBBST Littles stated they wanted to do well in school as a result of our programming. Ninety-eight percent of Littles said they look forward to learning new things. Furthermore, 64% of Littles said they like reading for fun. One of the Littles who discovered her joy of reading through her mentoring relationship is Little Sister Maya.
