Across Toronto, there are over 420 children and youth waiting for a highly motivated mentor that can guide them towards a brighter future. Of those, over 180 children and youth on our waitlist identify as Black and 71 children and youth identify as Mixed Race.
At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto, we believe that potential is everywhere, but opportunity is not. Black youth in the Greater Toronto Area face systemic barriers, including Anti-Black racism, limited access to resources, and underrepresentation in education and employment. With 40% of the youth we serve identifying as Black, the urgent need for targeted mentorship to bridge these gaps is critical.
In response, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto is thrilled to launch Game Changers, a groundbreaking new initiative that unites influential leaders to create connections, conversations, generate awareness about the power of mentorship and attract more mentors to meet the needs of youth.
